I'm Potterific!

I'm such a huge nerd. I made this with one of those Candy Doll generators, I've attatched the link.
Yeees, it's me as a Hogwarts student, RAVENCLAW ALL THE WAY! And my "familiar" witch pet is my lovely doggy Dusty who sadly passed away in May but I can still happily remember the sound her jingling collar tags made. And the guy beside me? Muahaha, no, it's not Harry, it's ....!

... as I said. I'm a HUGE nerd. Na ha HA!

AUGH I'm falling apart!

My neck hurts like a fiend, I suppose it doesn't help that I crack it all the time, but I can't stop myself! I'm getting worried! And WHY OH WHY does my computer hate me so? All I've ever done is given it love and long hours of both verbal and downloading abuse!

Also, I realise I REALLY need to practice cleaning up elipses and drawing realistic fabric...... *sigh*

YES I figured how to get titles working!

Now can anyone tell me WHY my right hand collomn of links and such is located at the bottom of the blog and not the top? WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH MY POSSESSED COMPUTER!?!?!??!?!

woah! Where'd my blogger sidebar go???

UGH! So I bugged the fine help-line people at Bell Sympatico once again, and they gave me the internet version of "let's see here... OH MY GOD!" and I'm even more frusterated over my BLOODY STUPID INTERNET! *pant pant* I can't check hotmail, msn, gmail, my bank account, student loans... basically anything with a secure setting. The last help-line guy left off telling me to go to microsoft and update EVERYTHING but when I went to do that the net wouldn't let me open the page properly....

*sigh*

Anyhoo, the drawing above is a sketch I did to give Steven a reason to smile during this work heavy week of his, maybe if I stare at it long enough my net woes will go away too.

Trying to save space on my computer, I backed up everything with the intent of deleting files that weren't too critical, but when I went through the sheridan photos I couldn't delete ANY of them! (they're all backed up on cd but i couldn't take them off my computer). So many memories, I laughed so many times! Ahh, how I miss the good all days. *happy sigh*

OOH! And another thing, *puts on hick voice* mah boy Gerry, wen' 'n got 'imself a bran' new blog. Take a look-see o'er at http://www.gduchemin.blogspot.com/

This pic's part of a larger illustration I'm working on for a certain special little sister, so MOM AND STEVEN if you're reading this don't show Heather, it's a surprise! Seriously though, the Teen Titans cartoon is soooooo cute.
The weekend's been pretty good, played this awesome fun game called "Cranium" over at Gerry's which is like charades/pictionary/sculpty fun/smart stuff/word-fun, and HILARITY did ensue!
It snowed over the weekend which was nice but it's been raining all evening and the roads and sidewalks are all slick and creepy with ice. We have to walk so carefully, even in my giant boots I almost slipped twice.

Alrighty! That's about it! Cheerio all! Ooh, and my listening reccomendation for the week is Dane Cook: Retaliation, the guy is soooo durn funny!

Hmm, me thinks Blogger doesn't post large files, so if you can't view the Simply Potterific comic (because i tried resizing it but that didn't work either) check it out in the fan comic section of closet-space , or at my deviant art account http://ktshy.deviantart.com

UGH! My internet is SO screwed up. I downloaded an antivirus Mike C. from work told me to find and it scouted out not one but TWO worms. Eww. But I'm still unable to access email! I'm cut off from the world outside Ottawa! AUGH!

Anyhoo, here's a newbie I sketched, inked and coloured tonight. I've been wanting to do a Poisin Ivy drawing for such a long time after reading "the longest halloween" (i think that's what it's called). I just find her to be such a fascinating character, almsot Faerie like in her love of plants but absolute distain for humans. Batman's my favourite superhero. Don't worry, he'll save himself soon enough...

Things that made me smile today: I had a nice long phone call wil Lucia after work. Almost down to only the wick on a beautiful vanilla scented candle that I've lit every night for the past few weeks. Marcel's adorable dog Fredrick almost licked the skin right off my hand, it made me remember my sweet Dusty who passed away last May.
I think Tony may have started a dinner-trend because now I have this overwhelming urge to capture my culinary attempts on film... or digital hoo-haw... whatever a digital camera takes. Pixels! That's it.

First up is the VERY FIRST all-on-my-own dinner I made a couple months back, chicken spaghetti, you may laugh at the simpleness but I was so excited to cut the meat (well, Andrea helped) and boil the noodles all on my own (yes, I've lived a sheltered existance.)

This here is a salmon fillet I made two days ago. Very tasty, I don't even remember what spices are on it (I just added whatever Andrea gave me) and the carrots on top are from her mother's recipe. VERY tasty, though I kind of overcooked it.

It's been 6 months but I'm only now truley realising I love our appartment. I'm slowly adding touches to my room that make me happy which include the pink stars Gerry helped me put up, and the funky quilt I bought at Ikea with Lucia.

Last of all, yes I have been drawing, just not much more than doodles. But here's another one of my Simply Potterific comics I make to amuse myself and my brother, which are actually pretty popular down at deviant art! Which is a good ol' confidence boost!

I've been listening to a lot of Iron and Wine lately. I find them so calming. Not that I'm the most stressed out person in the world, but we all have our bad days.

Gerry's roomate bought a robot. Seems all it does is pick up things and whistle suggestively at people. Silly little robo-sapien.

This is the logo I designed for "Silly Kingdom" a hilarious independant radio-play series currently in production. Based in a distant time and land, the core characters are a machiavellian prince, his sweet and innocent sister, a crotchety wizard with a chip on his shoulders against modernised magic tricks, and the court jester who's about the only person in the castle with a brain. Fantastically written (and I'm not just saying this because the writter's my brother) and hosting some very talened actors from the Voice Acting Alliance Forum, I HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you're in the mood for a chuckle. Check it out either here at: http://www.voiceacting.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=7327
Or through our closet-space website.

Happy Halloween everybody! ooOOOOooo! After getting the greatest scare of my life from Tony and Mike Barth a couple nihgt ago, I'm all pumped up on adrenalin and energy to update this blog! Ha.

This here is a silly little piece of fluff in tribute to all those other cartoony girl pinups out there. While I had fun with the simple colouring, this one was a pain because I decided to colour ontop the rough sketch rather than ink it clean and then colour... because I liked the original drawing and didn't want to go through the meticulous clean-up-process. The result is: it takes LONGER to colour, nigh impossible to clean after colouring and an obvious lack of the polished look you get with an inked drawing. BAH! I'm buying pens first thing tommorrow.

Also, I think I might treat myself to a new tablet this christmas, mine's lasted a good three years but it's all scuffed and a little too small which gives me crazy finger cramps. *looks devious* Though they have very nice tablets at work...

~ KT (I'm a princess for halloween! even though a guy at work told me only little girls and transvestite men can be "princesses." BAH.)

Alrighty, bring on good ol Hallows Eve! This is my FAVOURITE time of the year, and the first time I'll be experiencing it in Ottawa. There's this house down the street, all decked out, MAAAAaaan I wish I was a kid again so I could go tricker treating, or had a kid with me so I could use them as an excuse to go tricker treating, ha ha.
Haven't been up to much besides work and sleep (glutunous amounts of sleep) lately, but I found time to doodle up another ridiculous little Simply Potterific comic, here's the first panel:

I still need to figure out how to get my films up online, boy oh boy do I need a day off!

How do I post titles for these things?

*ahem*

Alrighty! Closet-Space's been officially revamped, new menu pages that fit the "closet-space" theme and I've scanned through all my drawings and filed the old stuff into archives to keep the gallary neat and tidy. Now I just need to get the ol' keester in gear-ster and get into the habbit of practice-practice-draw-draw again.
Here's my latest doodley (yeees, it's been a while). A birthday card for Gerry who likes Archie comics as much as I do... I mean did *shifts eyes around nervously*

Bernard's planning a short film project and I've been invited to join the team, so I'm pretty hyped for that. I find my intentions are always pure when it comes to art, but unless I've got someone giving me direction or deadlines or some sense of "do this now!" I can sit day dreaming forever. Then I wake up, reaise I'm 22 and finished school and not even CLOSE to achieving all those creative goals I set way back in highschool, maybe even grade school! There was something a stranger had said to me on the street (he creeped me out when he first approached me but the value of what he had to say soon overcame the creepyness), he told me the problem with young people is a lot of us aren't confident enough to begin achieving our goals, that we're inhibited by misplaced perceptions we place on ourselves that we're too young and inexperienced to create anything. He said people need to realise we have EVERYTHING in us RIGHT NOW to beable to create, we just need to realise this.
We just need to see it.
Speaking of "seeing" here's a pic I scrounged up of me and Lucia outside the Ottawa Art Gallary back around Canada Day, wha hee!

The Animation Festival was really good and there were some amazing films (my favourite will eventually be seen at http://www.jaspermorello.com/). It felt good to be able to connect with other animators on a similar level rather than having the "I'm just a student" status.... not that there's anything wrong with that! It's just there seemed to be more to talk about and relate to this time around. So the PLAN is, the plan, the plan... IS, to get around to finishing my film. Within the year *fingers crossed.*
Oh! And I just finished the sketchbook I started last year 2nd semester, YES! Now for a clean start!

Here are some doodles from the last page.

And here's an old one, done in photoshop. I wish I'd spent more time on it to get the skirt to actually LOOK like fabric, but I had to move on to other things.

Happy Autumnal Exinox! This has always been my favourite season. And the days are getting better with the kick off of the animation festival, and BEST of all is Lucia's come to stay with me and Andrea for the week. Fun times galore! Though not much sleep.

Warming up the ol' sketch hand.
It's been a long time since I've used pencil crayons, but I went and bought a pack at Wallacks the other day to try and get back into them. This is a quick sketch of a dress I saw on Ebay (I'm DANGEROUSLY close to buying a renaissance peasent dress and a civil war era gown from there... getting a credit card has unleashed my inner material demons.) I like the feel of pencil crayons, but it's always irked me that colouring over erased pencil marks leaves a pale kind of back trace line that I can't get rid of unless I lightly colour through the groove with a darker shade. It's all a learning process.

As has been politely pointed out by Bernard, I smell... oh, and I don't update NEARLY as much as I should. And the horrible aweful horrible (did I say horrible?) truth is that I don't draw NEARLY as much anymore. Yes, there's the "job" excuse, but that really is just an excuse isn't it? The only creative stuff I've been doing lately are the Shrub Monkey comics I've been making to amuse my brother and creative partner Steven. And the normal sketches and doodles that fill up my books but I don't feel like going through the back-breaking effort of picking up the book, turning on the scanner, scanning the pages... oh god, it's too much to even think about! Anyhoo, here's a quick sketch I did for Gerry (you'll know him from Bernard's postings, Bernard draws him ALL the time). And I'll be spending the next few days before the Animation Film Festival updating my website design. It's now closet-space.com and no longer procrast-effects, folks. I've dubbed it closet-space because that's the name of the first original comic I put together back when I was 15, and NO, no-one who's not related to me is allowed to see it!

The 27th is "Sketch-Crawl" day, but I tried to get a head start today and just wander about all morning drawing whatever came into view. Trouble is I always spend more time observing than actually drawing anything. Therefore nothing to show. But here's a cartoony study I did a little while ago of a girl I saw walking down the street one particularily hot day. I love crazy coloured hair... though not enough to dye my own. Photoshop ontop of pencil sketch.

PLACEHOLDERS (if you're reading this blog, ignore these, they're placeholders for other posts. Any ANYWAYS my new and frequently updated blog is over at http:ktshy.blogspot.com :)

Well, the rest of the Sheridan crew seems to be doing it, so why not I? Hope everyone's doing fine and dandy! I'm enjoying myself here in lovely Ottawa working at Pip Animation. It's going to take me a little bit to fully figure out this blog thing, but in the meantime, here's a line up of characters for a flash animated series I'll be starting up with my brother soon. (these were created in flash)
